In this special edition of The Bristol Betty Bulletin I catch up with husband and wife team, Caroline and Julian from Rose and Brown Vintage who have been organising vintage fairs across the North of England for nearly 20 years and were the first to incorporate both homeware and fashion into one single event.

Having got to know this dynamic duo first as a customer and then as a trader I was in no doubt of their devotion to all things vintage but I wanted to know more. Was that love of the past always there and what are the special pieces that they could never part with.

Where did your love of the past come from and were you buying vintage pieces early on.

Caroline:  I fell in love with interesting old stuff when my mum worked as a housekeeper in a big posh house in the 70s and 80s.  I had a Saturday job from 12 years old, cleaning the bedrooms and bathrooms and washing up after dinner parties. I loved to snoop at the beautiful old books and admire the vintage dressing table sets, and I can still smell the silver polish…..
