But who is Betty ? The inspiration behind Bristol Betty Vintage
A big warm welcome to Bristol Betty Vintage.
I’m Becca , so maybe not the Betty you were expecting but I’d love for you to meet her !
Betty was my Nana and yes you’ve guessed it she was from Bristol.
She is the inspiration (and the poster girl ) for my business. Her and her land army pals take pride of place in my logo. I love these pictures of her looking so young and happy. She told me that she loved the camaraderie of working with the other girls and that even though the work was hard they had a great time together.
She shopped vintage before it was even called that, had an eye for picking out the gems and like me she loved the community around vintage treasure hunting. Often, her best finds were from coffee mornings and jumble sales where she could have a brew and a chat, whilst filling her bag with goodies.
Her house was filled with her wonderful finds.
So I guess you could say that this love for beautiful old things runs in the family. I’ve been shopping and wearing vintage for years, l love the way it makes me feel like “ me” . I have dresses that are instant mood boosters !
I’ve been selling vintage clothing, accessories and books since late 2019 via Etsy, Instagram and in person at Vintage Fairs. I love connecting with my customers and the wider vintage community.
It is such a joy to find beautiful pieces and then witness the happiness they bring to others whether they be seasoned vintage shoppers or those buying their first 60s dress, attracted by the sustainability and uniqueness of shopping this way.
