The academia aesthetic has many sub genres, the most well known being dark and light academia, the former pulling on more gothic influences. The key to academia style is to make a few staple pieces work in many ways so think layering blouses under dresses, suits, vests and cardigans. Heritage patterns such as tweed and plaid and dark florals feature strongly along with simple colours such as black, brown,cream,white,dark green and burgundy.
